Types of concrete coatings used are acrylic or epoxy. Concrete coatings can be applied to almost any concrete surface with minimal prep work. Depending on which concrete coating you buy most will even go vertical. One of many advantages using a epoxy coating is cost, it’s about half the price of removing and replacing and less than half the work. Epxoy concrete floor coating is one of easiest to apply for the homeowner or your average do it yourselfer. Coating the concrete floor is as simple as painting, with a wide range of colors, pait chips and non skid additives. Concrete coatings that are going to be stamped can be colored at the time of placement or later stained. However this cannot be said for the epoxy concrete floor coatings.
A concrete coating can be applied after a good cleaning of the concrete surface. This is done by using muriatic acid to clean any dirt, paint, oil and all other foreign material from the poors in the top matrix of the concrete where the concrete coating will be applied. Then the surface is washed by power washer or hot water and squeegeed off. After drying, a thin coat of concrete epoxy coatings made of epoxy or acrylic is applied using a trowel or sprayed. This epoxy concrete coatings is usually 1/8 or less when applied on the first coat. The second concrete epoxy coating and third can be troweled on or sprayed on depending on pattern type used. One or two coatings of sealer is then used to seal the concrete floor coating surface. This will keep the decorative concrete coating from staining. Concrete coatings can be used on driveways, sidewalk, patios, floors, garage floors and more.
